Welcome to the Ecohydrology Lab led by Dr. Xiaonan Tai!
We are interested in understanding the two-way interactions between vegetation and hydrology and how they might influence ecosystem function and resource sustainability in the context of novel environments.
In particular, we employ process-based modeling and empirical approaches to combine in situ and remote sensing observations to
1) Understand the patterns and drivers of forest mortality, across scales and ecosystems.
2) Quantify the role of groundwater in buffering ecosystems against climate extremes and promoting recovery.
3) Develop science-based mitigation strategies for management to promote ecosystem resilience.
